Lt. Governor Burt Jones Attends the First Meeting of Georgia Senate Special Committee
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 19, 2025
ATLANTA |Today, Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones provided remarks at the first meeting of the Georgia Senate Special Committee on Eliminating Georgia’s Income Tax and welcomed the committee members.
“In recent years, we have saved Georgians over $6 billion in tax rebates, gas tax suspensions, and the largest income tax cut in state history,” said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “But we must go further. We must seize this opportunity to lead the South, not trail behind it. The days of government picking winners and losers are over, and I believe it is time for us to focus on eliminating Georgia’s income tax. I created this committee to raise up all Georgians. I believe that Georgians know how to spend their own money better than the government does, I hope my colleagues agree. I look forward to reviewing the committee’s findings and recommendations.”
