FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 24, 2025
ATLANTA |Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones announced his support for the recommendations of the Senate Study Committee on Additional Services and Resources for Transition Age Youth in Foster Care. These recommendations will be considered during the 2026 Legislative Session.
“I prioritized the creation of this study committee because we must continue to provide resources and services to all of Georgia’s children, including those in and aging out of the foster care system; this is a commitment I will not waver on,” said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “I want to commend Chairwoman Kirkpatrick, the members, presenters and foster care youth who worked tirelessly on this committee to bring forward these critical recommendations. Our state will continue to lead the way, while working with President Trump’s Administration, to ensure we are delivering on behalf of Georgia’s most vulnerable – our foster care children and families. These children and families deserve a champion who will never give up on them, and I am committed to ensuring they are heard, supported and never forgotten.”
“Our Senate study committee on youth aging out of foster care was a great opportunity to bring many stakeholders together who care about foster kids,” said Chairwoman Kay Kirkpatrick. “We will be taking steps to address the many challenges faced by these young people.”
