Lt. Governor Jones’ Statement on the Georgia Senate Committee on the Protection of Women’s Sports
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, August 27, 2024
ATLANTA |Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones attended and provided opening remarks at the first hearing of the Georgia Senate Special Committee on the Protection of Women’s Sports.
“The stories these young women, including Riley Gaines, shared are horrific and further solidify why protecting women’s sports and their rights will remain a priority in the Georgia Senate,” said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “This issue isn’t about marginalizing one group; it is about protecting women’s sports and all of the work they put into competing and becoming elite athletes. I want to thank my colleagues for standing their ground to protect women sports and to ensure that in the future, what these brave women experienced does not happen to any females participating in Georgia sports, at any level."
