ATLANTA |Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones highlighted the American Federation for Children PSA addressing “The Georgia Promise Scholarship Act,” which was enacted earlier this year and signed into law.

“I want to thank the Georgia chapter of the American Federation for Children for promoting the Georgia Promise Scholarship,” said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “For over a decade, we worked to pass a school choice bill in Georgia. I am proud of the work done this year to ensure that Georgia families have the resources they need to best meet their child’s unique educational needs. I want to thank Georgia General Assembly members and Governor Kemp’s administration for supporting the Georgia Promise Scholarship, a legislative priority of mine and a life changing resource for Georgia families. This is a great step in the right direction, and I look forward to building on this success next year to broaden educational choice in Georgia.”

The Georgia Promise Scholarship allows families with students enrolled in low-preforming public schools to use a $6,500 scholarship for tuition to attend private schools and to cover other educational expenses. This state funding can be used for the 2025-2026 school year.
