ATLANTA | Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones issued a statement on the Senate passage of House Bill 1018, the Georgia Firearms Industry Nondiscrimination Act.

“The collection of firearm retailer transaction data is nothing more than an attempt to infringe on our 2nd Amendment rights and place unwanted and unconstitutional surveillance on law-abiding gun owners,” said Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. “I am thankful the Senate passed this legislation to help protect Georgia’s firearms retailers and law-abiding citizens who exercise their 2nd Amendment rights.”

House Bill 1018 - Would prohibit financial institutions from requiring the use of a firearms code that distinguish firearms retailers from others. This legislation protects the private purchasing information of gun owners from abuse by third parties.
