Lt. Governor Burt Jones and Senator Burns Provide Update on Georgia’s Voting System

ATLANTA | Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones and Senator Max Burns (R – Sylvania) provided an update on a meeting with representatives from Dominion Voting Systems, staff from the Office of the Secretary of State and Senate leadership. The meeting took place a couple of weeks ago at the request of Lt. Governor Burt Jones to address concerns regarding software updates for Georgia’s voting system that have been raised in recent months.

“I want to thank Senator Burns, members of Senate leadership and representatives from Dominion and SOS for productive meetings,” said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “We have given Dominion and the Office of Secretary Raffensperger more than enough time to address our concerns and unfortunately are still waiting on a response. Protecting the integrity of Georgia’s elections remains a top priority, and we are committed to doing all we can to instill voter confidence for all Georgians ahead of a pivotal election. To advance that goal, the Senate Ethics Committee will be holding hearings this fall to consider proactive steps the General Assembly can take to ensure safe and secure elections for all Georgians.”

“It’s time for answers from both the Secretary of State and Dominion Voting Systems on why software updates were not performed in a timely manner,” said Senator Burns. “The people of Georgia deserve no less. I appreciate the support and leadership of Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones and my Senate colleagues as we continue to ensure that every legal vote counts, that all 159 Georgia counties follow Georgia law, and that voters have confidence in the elections process.”
