ATLANTA | Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones issued a statement on the first meeting of the Joint Tax Credit Review Panel.

“I commend members of the Senate and House on a great first meeting of the Joint Tax Credit Review Panel. Laying the groundwork today ensures a comprehensive review of all of Georgia’s current tax credits while providing transparency for Georgia’s taxpayers. It is imperative that we identify tax credits with a definitive return on investment so that we can increase competition and accountability for the taxpayers.

Tax credits without a return on investment could be used to lower the state income tax. If we’re going to continue to be the best state in the country to do business, while recruiting and retaining a strong workforce, we’ve got to be competitive with our income tax structure, and I’m confident this group will identify areas to do that.”
