ATLANTA | The Lt. Governor Burt Jones wrote a letter to President Donald Trump, Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins, and HUD Secretary Scott Turner in support of Mighty Hero Homes’ mission to end Veteran homelessness. The organization is seeking a special provision of 84 project-based HUD-VASH vouchers to unlock approximately $20 million in private and institutional funding required to construct the inaugural 84-home Base in Milledgeville, Georgia.

“Ensuring that Georgia’s veteran community has our utmost support and appreciation is a priority I am honored and humbled to advance,” said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “The work of organizations like Mighty Hero Homes is essential to not only building more homes for Veterans, but to ensuring our Veterans can regain stability, dignity, and purpose while accessing workforce development, healthcare coordination, peer mentorship, and other supportive services. In addition to this initiative, this past session I was proud to secure an appropriation of $7.5 million to eliminate Veteran homelessness in Georgia. Our heroes deserve more than temporary shelter solutions. They deserve the opportunity to rebuild their lives with honor. We are forever grateful for their bravery, service, and sacrifice.”

Mighty Hero Homes, based in Georgia, is pioneering a first-of-its-kind, proof-of-concept model that provides affordable, permanent housing for homeless and at-risk Veterans at purpose built Mighty Hero Home “Bases.” These communities give Veterans the opportunity to find their way in the world with the support of other Veterans and a loving community that values their service and sacrifice
