FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, November 19, 2024

ATLANTA | Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones joined Speaker Jon Burns in the House Chamber to welcome new members of the Georgia General Assembly. Four new members will be joining the Senate this upcoming year. The four new members, along with the returning 52, will be sworn in on Monday, January 13, 2025, when the first session of the 158th Georgia General Assembly convenes.

“I want to congratulate the new Senate and House members on their election to serve under the Gold Dome on behalf of their constituents and local communities. As we begin the new session, I wanted to meet them and ensure them that while we may not always agree on policy, my door is always open. My staff and I are here to provide assistance and guidance with a foundational belief that communication will drive our collective success.

I will continue to work hard to lead the Senate to the best of my abilities, and I respectfully ask that all members be kind, mindful and respectful to their colleagues. Each of these members were elected by their communities because they believe in them and the positive changes they can make on their behalf. I look forward to an effective and successful session ahead and working with Governor Brian Kemp, Speaker Burns and all members of the Georgia General Assembly on the behalf of all Georgians and our great state.”
