Lt. Governor Duncan Announces Emma Johnson as Director of Communications
ATLANTA (September 20, 2021) | Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan today announced that Emma Johnson has been selected to serve as his office’s Director of Communications.
Emma joins the Office of the Lieutenant Governor from the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC), which oversees over $1 billion in student financial support each year. In her role with GSFC, she worked in the Office of External Affairs and facilitated communication strategies aimed at increasing awareness for Georgia’s nineteen financial aid programs. Emma previously served as a Communications Associate in the Georgia Senate Press Office and provided members from both parties with support related to media relations and digital communications.
“The past two years have brought unprecedented changes, especially to how we communicate. Ensuring Georgians have knowledge of developments within state government is critical to maintaining transparency and accessibility,” said Duncan. “Emma’s comprehensive background in communications will serve as a major asset as we pursue initiatives focused on creating a strong, healthy, and safe Georgia for all.”
A native of Coastal Georgia, Emma attended the Women’s College of Brenau University and received a Bachelor of Arts in History/Political Science. After completing her undergraduate studies, Emma obtained a Master of Science in Strategic Communication from Troy University.
