Lt. Governor Duncan Announces Beal as Director of Policy
ATLANTA (August 4, 2021) | Today, Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan announced that James Beal has joined his staff as Director of Policy. James will replace Macy McFall as she has taken on the role of Duncan’s Chief of Staff.
“As we continue to recover from the past year’s unprecedented health and social challenges, my focus is on advancing innovative policies to ensure Georgia grows stronger, healthier, and safer,” said Duncan. “James brings his considerable knowledge in health policy and deep understanding of state government to help us achieve these goals.”
James joins the Office of the Lieutenant Governor from the Senate Research Office where he served as the senior policy analyst staffing the committees on Health & Human Services, Insurance & Labor, and Science & Technology. In this capacity, he became a trusted resource for the Senate on both sides of the aisle. He previously worked in the Office of Governor Nathan Deal and for the Georgia Department of Human Services.
Originally a native of Hickory, North Carolina, James grew up in Fayetteville, Georgia, and earned a BA and JD from Georgia State University. He is a member of the State Bar and is a long-time resident of the Grant Park neighborhood in Atlanta.
