Lt. Gov. Cagle to Launch Consortium for Advanced Technical Training Program

(ATLANTA) – Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle will launch the Georgia Consortium of Advanced Technical Training Program (GA CATT) at the Newnan Center on Monday, May 16th at 4 P.M. GA CATT is the first program of its kind in the United States to be based on the German apprenticeship model and nearly a dozen local high school students will be chosen for spots in the inaugural program this fall.  

Lt. Gov. Cagle worked with the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S., Inc., Technical College System of Georgia, West Georgia Technical College, Coweta County School System and eight local manufacturing companies to develop a curriculum that will allow high school students to complete a three year apprenticeship program. Students will graduate high school with their diploma, Associate’s Degree as an Industrial Mechanic and a German Industrial Mechanic Certificate. Representatives from each organization will be on hand to sign the memorandum of understanding, discuss the specifics of this unique opportunity and take questions from the media.

 

Lt. Gov. Cagle will be available for one-on-one as well as on camera interviews from 4:45 - 5 p.m.
