Lt. Governor Cagle Joins First Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at Georgia State Capitol

(ATLANTA)- Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and other lawmakers hosted the first annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day today.  Law enforcement officials were presented with a resolution honoring their work in the Senate Chamber, followed by special program at the North Wing of the State Capitol.

“All across Georgia, our law enforcement men and women dedicate their lives each and every day to making sure that our fellow citizens remain safe,” Lt. Governor Cagle said. “I am grateful for their service and honored to be able to serve them as Lt. Governor.”

The law enforcement officials consisted of distinguished sheriffs, police chiefs and state and local officials from around Georgia along with the following: 

President of Georgia’s Sheriff Association
President of Georgia’s Association of Chief of Police
Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety
Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Supervisor/Commissioner
Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation
Commissioner of Department of Correction
Chairman of the State Board of Pardons and Parole

Gatherers of the program honored and remembered the six officers that were killed in the line of duty since June 2014 in Georgia. The six officers that were honored were:

Deputy Sheriff Michael Norris – Monroe Co. Sheriff’s Office – 09/14/14

Police Officer Kevin Dorian Jordan – Griffin PD – 05/31/14

Deputy Sheriff Steven LaCruz “Cruz” Thomas – Franklin Co. PD – 05/21/14

Police Officer Noel Lee Hawk – Eatonton PD – 05/04/14

Police Officer Terrence Avery Green – Fulton Co. PD – 03/04/15

Police Officer Darryl Wallace - Clayton County Police Department, GA
