Lt. Governor Casey Cagle Statement Regarding Former Senator Terrell Starr

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle released the following statement regarding the unfortunate passing of former State Senator Terrell Starr:

"Senator Starr was not only a trusted confidant and advisor, but a close friend who made an impact in my life and in the lives of so many others. His years of service to our state are a testimony to his heart of service and dedication to making Georgia an even better place to live.  Nita and I extend our deepest sympathy to Celeste and the entire family and will keep them all in our prayers."

Born in ClaytonCounty, Starr attended ClaytonCounty public schools and graduated from AtlantaLawSchool.  He was drafted into the United States Navy and served our country during World War II.  Senator Starr was first elected to the Senate in 1968 and served for for thirty-eight years representing ClaytonCounty and held a large number of influential posts.  Starr was highly regarded for his thorough knowledge of state spending and budgeting procedures as well as education issues.  Most recently, Starr served as a Senior Advisor to Lt. Governor Casey Cagle since 2007.

Starr married his wife, Celeste, in 1944 and they have two children, JoAnn McJenkins and Terry Starr.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21st from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the FirstBaptistChurch,

.  The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd at 2:00 pm at the FirstBaptistChurch.
