Lt. Governor Casey Cagle Applauds Warren County During Back to School Luncheon

August 7, 2008

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle expressed appreciation to Warren County Public School’s teachers, administration and Superintendent yesterday during the county’s back to school luncheon.  While Cagle could not be in attendance because of a prior commitment, he asked State Senator Johnny Grant to attend and read a letter of greeting to Superintendent Carey and the group.

“Warren County Public Schools are a shining example of what hard work and a team approach can mean to our school systems.  I have been very impressed with Superintendent Carey and her entire team.  The teachers and administrators should be applauded for what they do each and every day to make a difference in the lives of students,” said Casey Cagle.

Warren County was the first school system in Georgia to be named a Charter System.  Charter Systems, along with Career Academies, were Cagle's educational initiatives to promote innovation and flexibility in the classroom. A Charter System provides the opportunity for teachers, administrators, parents, and school boards to have greater flexibility and to determine the educational needs of students within their district in exchange for specific achievement standards.

Excerpts of Cagle’s letter follows:

Your vision and desire to see your students succeed have translated into WarrenCounty becoming the first system in the state of Georgia selected to become a charter school system.  To be the first system chosen is a distinct honor and recognizes not only the talent of your teachers and faculty but also the commitment of the entire community to creating the best educational environment for your students.  As a charter system, your schools will soon be able to realize their full potential as you all map the best course for student achievement.

Realizing this goal would not have been possible without your leadership and dedication.  I am grateful for all that you have done in trying to assure that your students have every opportunity to achieve greatness.

I wish you and the teachers and students of Warren County Schools the best for the future, and I look forward to seeing the great things you all will accomplish together.
