October 26, 2007

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle released the following statement after meeting today with Governor Perdue, Senator Saxby Chambliss, Senator Johnny Isakson, U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Dirk Kempthorne and Chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, James Connaughton regarding Georgia’s drought.

“Today's meeting was an important step to addressing the water needs of our state and I appreciate Secretary Kempthorne's desire to sit down with us as we work through the facts of our water situation.  Governor Perdue made a strong case for the state of Georgia and we look forward to the White House's response following further meetings with Governor Riley, Governor Crist and the Congressional delegations from each state.  The fact remains that we are experiencing one of the most severe droughts in the history of our state and action is needed immediately,” said Lt. Governor Casey Cagle.
