Cagle Names Bowers Family as Honorary Senators

April 11, 2007

(Atlanta, GA) – Lt. Governor Casey Cagle named Taylorsville’s Bowers Family “Honorary Senators” for Wednesday, April 11th .

“It was a joy to welcome the Bowers family to the Capitol today. They have given of themselves to their community and taken the time to teach their children about the legislative process,” Cagle said.

Lynn and Patrick Bowers have been married for 17 years and are the proud parents of Marissa and Joel. Lynn works full time in the home while home schooling Marissa, a 6th grade student and Joel, a 4th grade student. Patrick has worked for Georgia’s Department of Transportation for 18 years as the District Construction Engineer.

The Bowers are members of a start-up church, Tapestry, and serve on the leadership team.  The family regularly visits local nursing homes and volunteers for several political organizations.

Marissa and Joel will both be tested later this month for their second degree black belt in Karate.

The Honorary Senator program is an effort by Cagle to recognize and reward outstanding Georgia citizens who are involved in their community and the political process. Honorary Senators are invited to the State Capitol to witness State Senators debate and vote on the Senate floor first-hand and meet with Lt. Governor Cagle.
