Lieutenant Governor Cagle Stands in Support of Delta Airlines

(Atlanta, GA) – During a press conference today, Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle, along with several of his colleagues from both sides of the aisle, reaffirmed his strong support for Delta Airlines.

"Delta means a lot to our state and provides wonderful jobs for many citizens of Georgia.  Delta has experienced difficult times, but I am convinced that Delta standing alone will be in the best interest of all citizens, not only for Georgia, but for our Nation.

"I'm confident in Delta’s team and confident that they have a strategy that spells success. We need to stand shoulder to shoulder with this great company ensuring that they stay here in Atlanta and are vibrant for the future.

"Before any merger is considered, we should practice due diligence by taking a close and careful look and that is why we are here to today," Cagle said.

Cagle was joined by several of his colleagues: Glenn Richardson, Eric Johnson, Mark Burkhalter, Jeff Mullis, Vance Smith, Jr., Chip Pearson, Ron Stephens, Kasim Reed, Virgil Fludd, Valencia Seay and Darryl Jordan. Together they signed a letter addressed to United States Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales encouraging that his office conducts a full and careful review of US Airways take-over bid for Delta.
