Investing in Georgia’s Future…
To Create New Jobs and Compete in a Global Economy
“I am committed to Georgia maintaining its position as one of the key players in the worldwide economic landscape. And if we want to be at the forefront of creating jobs and new opportunities for our citizens and businesses, we must work to establish the type of environment that embraces the pro-business principles that will allow every Georgian to experience the American Dream. Let’s invest in our future by putting the right infrastructure and atmosphere in place to let companies around the world know Georgia is ready and open for business.”
- Lt. Governor Casey Cagle
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN GEORGIA
Creating a Pro-Business Environment
The facts speak for themselves: 13 Fortune 500 companies and 26 Fortune 1000 companies call Georgia home. Georgia hosts 76 foreign governments’ consular offices and trade centers in addition to 39 bi-national Chambers of Commerce. This state is one of the top-fifteen exporting states in the nation, totaling over $27 billion. Georgia is home to the world’s busiest airport and the fastest-growing seaport in the nation, and CNBC ranked Georgia as having the number-one workforce in the nation. Georgia also received a top-three national ranking from CNBC for transportation and low cost-of-living.
Georgia is truly a major player in the global economy, primed to grow and expand in the coming years. As a state, Georgia must continue to offer every company the resources and freedoms so the hard-working people of the state can create jobs and determine the economic future. That means a business-friendly environment that has the right tax structure and incentives in place to encourage businesses to locate and expand here in Georgia.
Providing Workforce Development
This state will not be able to help businesses grow jobs and be successful unless Georgians have the skills necessary to fill the jobs of a 21st Century economy. Through a concerted effort to support such innovative programs as Georgia QuickStart and our career academy network, as well as the cutting-edge research and education at our colleges and universities, we can ensure Georgia’s students are getting the training and proper resources they need to be successful in the highly-skilled, technical jobs of the 21st Century.
Investing in Georgia's Economic Future
To protect existing jobs and open the doors for new ones, Georgia must be focused on pursuing sound fiscal policies that give existing large and small businesses the chance to grow and have the freedoms to excel in their field. Georgia boasts many economic advantages to attract new businesses and jobs, and it is vital to create the right atmosphere so Georgia's current businesses can continue to thrive as the lifeblood of the state’s economy.
