Victims of Recent Flood Damage

Georgia saw unprecedented flooding last week and joint federal-state-local damage inspections are underway.  Lt. Governor Casey Cagle surveyed the damage and visited with many of those affected by the storms that were staying at a Red Cross shelter.  "Our hearts go out to all those who lost loved ones and who saw extensive damage to their homes and possessions. We will do all we can to assist and urge Georgians to come together to provide aid to flood victims.”

If you are a recent flood victim and reside in one of the 17 declared counties, you could be eligible for Individual Assistance which provides funding to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses.  The counties that have been declared disaster relief counties are Bartow, Carroll, Catoosa, Chattooga, Cherokee, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett, Heard, Newton, Paulding, Rockdale, Stephens, and Walker

If you reside in one of these counties and are in need of assistance, register with FEMA by going online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.  The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time). 

Those who are interested in helping victims are asked to donate to Red Cross (http://www.redcross.org/) or Salvation Army (http://www.salvationarmyusa.org).
